“Do
you sometimes put your true-self on the back burner to conform to others or to
a situation, and how does that make you feel?”
Our
writing prompt for today is to speak directly to our feelings of self
denial. My personal feelings on this is
that everyone should experience this often throughout their lives, most do. The
selfless act of ensuring someone else is the center of attention is emotionally
rewarding and may even allow your heart to grow stronger.
Hiding
your light under a rock so that another may shine is a selfless act and should not
be underestimated. No one person should
ever be constantly in the limelight.
Everyone needs time to simply be and be anonymous.
Anyone
who has been a good parent or an adoring relative has allowed the youngster
their time in the sun. The teacher who
lauds the student whether or not they should be accepted into MENSA. A good friend will introduce a story for the
other to elaborate upon. Anytime you
ensure credit goes to where credit is due, you have willingly stepped out of
the limelight and allowed another to step in.
However,
there are those times when someone may want you to conform against your
will. Become subservient. Those trolls who would attempt to steal your
light away from you have very little soul of their own, therefore are envious
of your light. Do not allow them to
break your spirit. Do not allow them to
hide or dim your light.
In
these difficult financial times, it may be necessary to kow-tow for a time,
continue to seek alternate employment!
Your health is far too important to give your life light to such
ungrateful people. For every Fairie Tale
there is a real example….do not allow them to turn YOU into a Grinch!

Nice take on the topic! You made so many great points! I love your reference to our inner light. That is so true! There is an old favorite children's song of mine that I used to play in the car when my kids were very little. It is by a children's musical artist named Raffi..."This little light of mine, I'm gonna' let it shine, this little light of mine, I'm gonna' let it shine...And I do appreciate your point about stepping aside, to let someone else shine! Absolutely! Thanks for sharing in my topic, Leigh.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking the time to read my blog story. I do appreciate!
DeleteI love this! It is so LEIGH! I agree with all of it and you know that I enjoy both shining and sending the light elsewhere, also.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good balance and when you have a good story teller in your midst, you should always lead them into the telling of same.
Great job and also great reminders.
You are so wonderful...Thank you.
DeleteYou have got to let that little light shine! Brilliant.

As you can tell by the seriousness of the picture as my background to my blog....I have very little trouble being a "glow girl"! Thank you Ms. Kathy. I appreciate you taking the time to read my blog postings.
DeleteAgreed and thank you for the reminder!

Very true, there are times when we need to shine and there are when we need to dim.
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post Leigh!! It is true...sometimes it just isn't our turn to shine--but to be inspired by others who do.
ReplyDeleteCheers, Jenn
