A Boy
The young man stood at the edge of the water.  It was a cool summer evening, since the air
was cool, the water felt exceptionally warm.
Invitingly warm.
The young man stood at the edge of the water.  It was a cool summer evening, since the air
was cool, the water felt exceptionally warm.
Invitingly warm.
Their words rattled around in his head.  Belittling, harsh, negative, they never
seemed to have a kind word.
The water looked so inviting.  Warm, smooth, liquid, washing away the
hurt.   Ending the hard times.
But, to become a man, the boy must endure.  To become a man, the boy must put aside these
thoughts of running away.  To become a
man he must overcome the wrongful banter playing in his head.  To become a man, he must believe in
himself.
The water seemed warm.
It was a nice cool summer evening.

Wonderful response to the picture prompt. I'm not sure what I would/will write.

The ocean always seems to reason with us--one way or the other. Loved your take on this prompt!
