B is for Blue Gills
She watched his sinewy body flow through the reeds in the river. He seemed to fly through the water, moving so effortlessly. Gliding in and out of the water lilies, leaping over the fallen logs and finally darting to her side with a wry smile on his full pouty lips. His skin glistened as the sun kissed him in the water. She enjoyed watching his athleticism, so smooth and graceful.
Together they danced. Swaying gently, intimately, knowingly. Their movements in harmonious synchronicity. The space between their bodies growing ever closer, ever so much more than just a dance. They began to claim one another, as they had year after year. They belonged to one another.
They danced from the deep to the shallow, their river dance. They danced from the reeds to the rocks. Eyes only belonging to one another, they moved to the bed. The bed they had made together.
A treble hook flashed across the sky, plummeting into the shallow waters, biting deeply into his flesh. Like a grapple hook, jerking him from the dance, away from her eyes, and into the boat.
